Ana Laura Perez.latest crush
Ana Laura Perez studied fashion design and is now a freelance designer and also makes jewelry for her own brand ALPS. Her creations are so feminine and surreal; both her illustrations and textile designs. Her inspirations are "color palettes and scales, shadows and lights, crystals, old nature, encyclopedias, white and gold, sea creatures, textures and shine, moss, draping, darkness and feminity, hidden treasures."

Ken Garduno
Ken Garduno's work is not usually the kind of style that I have posted about and not exactly under the style of fashion illustration. However, there is something intriguing about the fine lines in some of his pieces that comes together and results in a perfectly feminine illustration. I think it's also something to do with my fetish with swirls in drawings, especially hair. Below are a few of my favourites. You can also follow him on his blog and view work from his sketchbooks.

Firenze
Bonjourno! Sorry for the absence these past few days. I've just got back from Florence with a larger stomach and full of fresh inspirations. I will share some of the photos that I took as soon as I've uploaded them. Meanwhile, I shall boast about my birthday present that arrived while I was gone. It is from "Prada Made In India", a collection that is entirely handmade using vegetable dyed goats leather and traditional weaving techniques in small workshops in India. Miuccia Prada tells the International Herald Tribune that it 'is a political statement and it comes from a personal appreciation of originality. You have to embrace the world if you want to live in it now". Personally, I love her concept, as shes also done Made In Scotland, Made In Japan, and Made in Peru.

Yiunam Leung.illustrations
I found Yiunam Leung through his facebook. There was one piece that really caught my attention. I love what he did with putting pattern in the hair. As for the second and third one, fresh idea.
MY CONRAD ROSET ARRIVED!
So today, I handed in my projects and tomorrow I'll be off to florence! And once again curiosity got the best of me and I think I creeped these two street artists sketching by going over to look at their work....in the most unsubtle way. oops.
oh and guess what, this piece is now mine! Thanks Conrad Roset!

Ann Ward.cycle 15
I've just finished cycle 15 of America's Next Top Model and I am beyond happy that Ann won! I haven't been this excited about the show since one of the twins won from whatever cycle ago. To be honest I find the whole concept quite contradicting. This season was supposed to be 'high fashion' and the prize is cover for Vogue Italia which I think is suitable because Vogue Italia is the best Vogue. Anyway besides that, contract with Covergirl is still there... not exactly high fashion beauty brand. Basically the whole season was about whether each girls are high fashion enough or too commercial, but isnt Covergirl quite um...commercial?
Okay, well can't complain much since Ann won, so lets see some of her best shots ;) (first time ever, they are all amazing). I tried looking into her career since the show but couldn't find much, but I guess it hasnt been that long. For those who haven't seen cycle 15, Ann is an extremely tall, awkward girl with effortless pose that always manages to come out...amazing.

Laura McKellar.polaroids
I love these polaroids taken by Laura McKellar. She is an illustrator, currently lives and works in Melbourne, Australia. Visit her website for more of her work, her other projects are equally playful.
Aurore de La Morinerie
A beautiful fashion illustrator introduced to me by my fabulous cousin/fashion designer, Yarng (He is currently working on a project which I will post about as soon as it is ready!)
Aurore de La Morinerie style is quite abstract, though there is no hard definition, there is something about the ink stains that I cannot get enough of. I would compare her work to musician like Sigur Ros; you don't quite understand the lyrics, but everybody has their own interpretation of it.

Loreto Binvignat Streeter
Loreto Binvignat Streeter is born in 1983, in La Serena, Chile. She now lives and works in Barcelona. Her background consists of fine arts, fashion design and illustration. Currently, she works in illustration and fashion simultaneously. She manages to succeed in creating clustered images which in my opinion is hard to be successful at. When you look at some of her illustration, you may feel a bit claustrophobic but in closer inspection, you actually realise that they actually are in harmony with each other. In others, her lines are very soft and though the faces can be comical, the overall can be very serene.
love this hair. |
I don't have it myself though I am tempted to try it out. If anyone owns this book, please let me know how you find it. Thanks!
